The Preschool at KiDiMu

Creative, Play-Based Learning for ages 3 - 5.5

Registration is now open for the 2024-25 School Year

The Preschool at KiDiMu is a vibrant and inclusive program for preschoolers ages 3 - 5.5 years old. The multi-age classroom fosters empathy and understanding while educating each child at their own pace. The Kids Discovery Museum is our classroom, allowing for lots of engaging spaces for children to explore.

Our curriculum includes stories, music, movement, games, scientific exploration and plenty of free play. Nature walks and outdoor play are a daily part of our curriculum. Our teaching style is organic, following the interests and energy level of the children. Our goal is to create a positive learning mindset that will inspire students for years to come.

The Preschool at KiDiMu welcomes all children and celebrates diversity and inclusion through our curriculum and community.

Thank you for welcoming my son to The Preschool at KiDiMu. Thank you for always supporting him in so many ways. He has grown so much over the last year, thanks to your careful and nurturing hands. We have laughed and giggled and plotted about what to bring for show and tell; we have heard of the many discoveries in science Fridays; we’ve heard tales of the nature walks and stories shared. Thank you for a wonderful year!
— Maria, Preschool Parent

Enrollment

The Preschool at KiDiMu is currently enrolling children ages 3 - 5.5 for the 2023-2024 academic year. We will begin accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year on January 31, 2024.

For early learners aged 3 - 5.5, our multi-age program centers around curious learners ready to explore a school environment. Students must be toilet-trained and able to use the toilet independently. For students enrolling in the 2024-2025 school year, they must turn three by September 1, 2024. Exceptions are considered on a case-by-case basis under the Museum's teaching staff and Executive Director's discretion.

Meet Our Early Educator, Serena Johnson

Serena grew up on Bainbridge Island and graduated from Bainbridge High School in 2018. She continued her education at Boise State University, graduating in 2022 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and blended early childhood/early childhood special education.

Serena has dreamed of being a teacher since she was a child. Some of her parents' favorite memories of her growing up are of her as a toddler pretending to be a teacher and setting up blocks as her students. She is excited to continue to make her dream a reality.

In Serena’s free time, she coaches jump rope with the Bainbridge Island Rope Skippers. She is also a massive NFL fan, and you can find her watching games all season long and following the league year round!

Our Classroom

Kids Discovery Museum is your classroom! We are not open to the public when class is in session. This allows our students to engage with the exhibits when time is allowed. Nature walks and outdoor play are also a daily part of our routine.

Class size is limited to 12 students and 2 teachers, offering a 6:1 ratio.
