INTERIM EDUCATION DIRECTOR (part-time, contract)

This is a part-time contract position (approximately 20 hours per week) to fill in for the Executive Director on maternity leave. Prework will be done to help and there will be overlap with the existing director prior to her departure. Occasional availability on select weekends and occasional evening(s) required (schedule is negotiable). Compensation DOE.

This position plans, guides, and implements all educational components and programs for the Museum. Using early childhood education data and best practices, the Education Director oversees the educational direction and messaging, and serves as the expert to ensure that programs and exhibits meet educational standards. The Director will also serve as an advocate for play as key to a child’s healthy development and vehicle for learning.

SUMMER CAMP INSTRUCTOR (part-time, contract)
KiDiMu is looking for qualified, enthusiastic educators to support its popular summer programs by leading our half-day morning camp session for ages 3.5-6.

• Bring creativity and enthusiasm in delivering engaging existing camp curricula.
• Ensure daily curricula supplies and needs are available and prepared and camp supplies are cleaned and put away daily.
• Ensure that daily activities are effectively and safely implemented.
• Supervise and provide guidance for volunteer camp assistants.
• Maintain a positive attitude toward campers, parents, museum staff and volunteers.

The position requires a passion for educating young children through hands-on teaching methods. Successful candidates must be creative, flexible and responsible, self-motivated team players with demonstrated problem-solving skills.

• Professional teaching background and/or education required. Previous work experience in an informal education setting a plus.
• B.A. degree required. Certification preferred. M.A. a plus.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification required by July 1. BIFD offers free monthly training
