WHAT’S COOKING: TROPICAL EXPLORATIONS Travel to lush rain forests of the world to experiment with food and explore its many colors. Find out what people and animals of the rain forest eat to survive, and how different colors of the food nourish them. Each day, make discoveries through stories, crafts, games and songs from a different region. Learn how to prepare exotic healthy dishes, and how to eat them, too! Younger group will focus on colors of the rain forest and older children will explore its geography and culture. Both curricula promote environmental conservation and feature age-appropriate cooking techniques, and recipes. Join the KiDiMu Jungle Expedition and embark upon challenging adventures, new each day. Master necessary survival skills and follow ancient maps through the swamps, jungles and lost cities in search of legendary treasures. Find and tame wild creatures in the rain forest and in yourself. Are you ready for adventures out of this world? Travel to the moon and back, and learn about our solar system and the outer space beyond. Train your mind and your body like an astronaut. Find out how to become a space explorer and what to do when you meet aliens. Each day, play space-themed games, explore books and art activities to get you on the right track… or orbit! Become an explorer on the expedition to befriend all the amazing insects and spiders of the Zany Rainy Forest. Each day, games, books, activities and art projects will help you catch the entomology bug! Classes focus on science, literacy, art and movement. Make unusual stories come alive with the help of musical instruments. Become an archeologist and take a new journey each day to learn about prehistoric creatures, fossils, volcanoes and more. This camp will approach the world of dinosaurs in a fun and theatrical way, including dinosaur games, creations, activities and movement. Classes focus on literacy, science and arts. Study the ancient art of mosaics and murals. Join the KiDiMu Summer Artist Guild, and have your art become a part of the Museum. Start out with tiny pieces of broken porcelain and sea glass to create a large art installation for permanent display at KiDiMu. Experiment with large-scale mural painting and make a small-scale mosaic to keep as a souvenir or a beginning of your own art collection. Classes focus on the creative process, visual arts and analytical thinking. Did you know they hadn’t started out on TV? Bring your favorite cape (or not), grab a pencil and explore the art of cartooning. Learn about character development, storyboarding and the importance of composition. Create your very own comic book and pave your way to Comic-con! Classes focus on visual arts, literacy, creative process and critical thinking. Learn what it takes to become an actor or an actress. Each day, explore different aspects of theatrical experience. Engage in imaginary play activities and theater games in preparation for the final performance on the last day of the camp.
