Volunteer Vibes

SERVICE ABOVE SELF. On Sunday, April 30, true to their fashion, 36 Rotarians sprang into action once again with a new initiative and a smile on their faces. Helping Hands volunteers shared their time and talents to help with facility maintenance on KiDiMu Big Cleanup Day. From teens to retirees, they were fearless washing windows, painting walls and exhibits, cleaning and getting art projects ready for young explorers.

It is hard to imagine the Island community without the enthusiasm and support of the Rotarians. They truly embody the organization’s mission to offer service above self and make it a part of their daily routines, bringing their can-do attitude where help is most needed, often before others take notice.

Kids Discovery Museum has been fortunate to have Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island as a longtime partner. Visitors and staff are reminded of that collaboration daily, each time they take an elevator ride. Not a feature that most of us think about often, but it was key to making the organization accessible to all.

Being a museum of a “please touch” variety, KiDiMu requires many resources to keep the doors open and learning experiences effective and enjoyable for children and their families. Thanks to the Rotarian’s recent volunteer effort, the museum can be more efficient and direct more energy toward its educational mission.

Big thanks to Lee Evans, who coordinated the project, and the whole Helping Hands Team for making the Museum sparkling clean and ready for new adventures!
